Putting your movie films on DVD makes them easy to enjoy and is the best way to preserve those wonderful memories. Here are the most common questions I get regarding movie film transfers to DVD:
- What is the price? The Price to transfer Regular 8mm or Super 8mm movie film to DVD: For the original 3" diameter reels (50 feet), the price is $7 per reel. For larger reels, the price is 10 cents per foot of film. There are usually footage indicators on the spokes of the larger reels. A 5" diameter reel that is full has 200 feet ($20). A 7" diameter reel that is full has 400 feet ($40). Approximately 800 feet of Regular 8mm film or 1000 feet of Super 8mm film goes on one DVD.
The Price to transfer 16mm film to DVD: For the original 3" diameter reels (50 feet), the price is $7 per reel. For larger reels, the price is 10 cents per foot of film. There are usually footage indicators on the spokes of the larger reels. A 5" diameter reel that is full has 200 feet ($20). A 7" diameter reel that is full has 400 feet ($40). Approximately 1600 feet of 16mm film goes on one DVD.
Additional DVD copies are $3 per DVD.
There is a $40 minimum charge for any film transfer order.
There may be additional charges for the splicing of broken film or for fixing film that is backwards or upside down on the reel. The customer will be called with an estimate before any additional charges will be applied.
- How long does it take? As a single person business, the time a job might take is always dependent on the amount of work I currently have and how large the job is. An average film transfer order normally takes between 2 - 4 weeks.
